Job Description:
Summer Youth Intern
The Summer Youth Ministry Intern will work alongside the youth ministry team to create a meaningful, engaging, and fun summer youth program for the middle and high school students of Emmaus Church Community. This role is designed to develop leadership skills, gain ministry experience, and support the youth ministry.
Position Title: Summer Youth Ministry Intern
Position Type: Intern, part time (up to 25 hours per week)
Number of Positions: 2
Compensation: $20 per hour
Start Date: June 1, 2026
Duration: 10 weeks (June 1, 2026-August 9, 2026)
Reports to: Intern Director
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Engagement
- Connect with specific students every Sunday
- Attend youth summer events
- Organize connection time with students mid-week
- Attend students’ events (games, Placer County Fair, concerts…)
- Write welcome letters to new students
2. Program & Event Support
- Assist in prep work for events
- Invite students to summer events
- Create shopping list with provided budget
- Clean up & tear down Emmaus hosted youth events
- Create and plan 1 middle school & 1 high school event
- Create and plan the August 9 Back-To-School Event
3. Student Discipleship
- Attend weekly July bible study (high school)
- Observe how other leaders facilitate the discussion and lead the group
- Co-lead weekly July Bible study
4. Creative Support
- Develop ideas for social media content and/or strategy
- Provide Youth Director with creative ideas for fall youth groups
5. Professional/Personal Development
- Weekly meetings with Intern Director (Sunday mornings)
- Create weekly work schedule
- Complete independent book study (provided by Intern Director)
- Attend 1 Emmaus staff meeting
- Attend 1 Lincoln Youth Pastor meeting
- Exit interview with Youth Director and Intern Director
Expectations:
Attend all youth summer events
Attend both Sunday morning gatherings
Communicate promptly with the team
Be punctual and dependable
Maintain a lifestyle consistent with the values of Emmaus Church Community
Follow all church policies
Continue to connect with God in personal ways
Minimum age of 19
Graduated high school in 2025 or earlier
