While the adults covered the topic of The Thankful Have More Time, our chapel lesson paralleled with “Focus on Thankful. Focus on Jesus.” We centered our lesson on Genesis 28:16, “Surely the LORD is in this place and I was not aware of it.”
To expand on this point, we discussed that just like air, God is around us even when we don’t see Him. We talked about what we can do to focus and be aware.
Parents can further this discussion by brainstorming ideas as a family on what you can do to focus this week’s celebrating on Jesus. What can you do to be present and in the moment?
Our Bonus Round session re-enforced this lesson through games and a craft. The kids played an observation game and battled to see which team was more aware. During craft time, they each made their own Focus on Jesus ‘telescope’. We then used them to focus on what was around us in the room.
